Dubrovnik Early Music Festival has been creating the harmonious unity of architecture and sounds. Early music is a passage to our past, tradition and heritage that we now live in. Festival explores continuous link between humans and music. Music is important for individual psychological and spiritual space as well as a society’s secular or sacred tool. Music always remains open making us more open to the world, life and other people, it heals us and helps us to become more human. This year, festival’s theme is “openness”. As no other festival in this part of the world, we travel this year far into the past so we will hear music of ancient Greece and Rome, old Indian warrior and romantic ragas while more recent Europe will be presented by Bach’s “Goldberg Variations”. Festival will close with verses and music by Croatian poets Marulić and Držić and their Croatian and European contemporaries.
